Best Buy will open Thursday at 6 p.m. next to the new Lowe's on Hempstead Road. The 45,000-square foot store will be the first in Lancaster County for the nation's largest electronics retailer.
The store, at 1801 Hempstead Road, is expected to employ about 120 people. As part of the opening, $10,000 will be donated to local nonprofits.
Store hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Based in Minneapolis, Best Buy has about 1,000 stores in the United States, including locations in York, Harrisburg and Wyomissing.
New at Park City
Figuresque, a store that sells plus-sized clothes for women, opened last week in a 3,500-square-foot space in the Sears Wing at Park City Center. It features clothing in sizes 14 through 36, including tops, jeans, dresses and lingerie.
The store takes the space formerly occupied by S&K Menswear. It is the first retail location for Figuresque, which previously sold its clothes exclusively online. The owner is Michelle Ayala.
Also at Park City, Gish's Furniture opened a store last week in a 2,500-square-foot space in the Bon Ton Wing. It will be open through Dec. 31, taking space formerly occupied by Wilsons Leather.
Gish's Furniture, which has stores in Camp Hill, York and along Lincoln Highway East in Lancaster, features hardwood furniture, including dining room, bedroom and office suites. The Park City store carries a more limited line of products, featuring smaller items such as pictures, cutting boards and jewelry boxes.
Electric bike shop
Green Pedals, a bike shop featuring electric bikes and scooters, opened Monday at 24 W. Orange St. The 850-square foot store currently has only a limited supply of bikes and mostly afternoon hours. Owner Andrew Herr said the hours will be expanded and the inventory boosted after the first of November.
Café opens
The Brew House & Bistro opened earlier this month at 349 Main St. in Denver. The small café, which features coffee drinks, sandwiches and soups, has seating for about 25.
This is second café for owners Todd and Mary Alice Haws, who opened the Brew House & Bistro about two years ago at 52 E. Main St. in Ephrata. The cafés have the same menu.
Hours: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
