A sport utility vehicle crashed into a telephone pole with a transformer on it in West Lampeter Township on Thursday.

The 10:52 a.m. crash occurred near 1250 Eshelman Mill Road.

Two people were stuck inside the Ford Explorer because electric wires were strewn across it for about an hour.

PPL arrived and cut the power lines about noon.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians then were able to move in and help the victims get out of the SUV.

They were transported to Lancaster General Hospital, West Lampeter Township Police said.
