Folklore Coffee & Company opened Friday on the square in Elizabethtown.

The roughly 50-seat coffee shop at 1 N. Market St. features light fare as well as a full coffee bar. The menu includes soups, salads and sandwiches as well as smoothies and other specialty drinks. The cafe will host music on weekends.

The owner is Ryan Bracken, who operates it with his wife, Dawn. The couple oversaw various renovations, including some painting. A new air conditioning system was installed, bringing the total price tag for recent improvements to about $30,000, Bracken said.

The space, which had been empty for about five years, was originally a hardware store but more recently was the home of several coffee shops.

Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Café reopens

Café owner Eric Morales is transforming the former Muffin Street Café at 18 W. Orange St. into the Latin Jazz Café. Morales closed the Muffin Street Café in early August and reopened late last month.

Morales recently put out a new sign and is in the midst of revamping the small café's menu to emphasize rice and bean dishes. Some new seating, including several couches, is planned. The café will regularly host live music, Morales said.

Hours: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with extended hours on Friday, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Signs moving

Fast Signs, a graphics and sign-making business, plans to move in mid-January from 246 Granite Run Drive to a larger facility at 121 Centerville Road.

At 8,000 square feet, the new location will be more than twice as big as the company's current quarters and will boast an expanded showroom and improved layout, store owner Ann Marie Hall said. The space formerly was occupied by GNT Audio.

In addition to renovating the Centerville Road property, Fast Signs will be building a roughly 2,000-square-foot addition, for a total estimated cost of about $240,000, Hall said. The company has 18 employees.

Shop opens

Animal-Krazy, an animal-themed art gallery and gift shop, opened Sept. 29 at the Brickerville House Specialty Shops in Lititz.

The 500-square-foot shop, at 2 E. 28th Division Highway, sells art, books, toys and gifts. The owner, Samantha McClusky, also does pet portraits.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
