You could say Jonathan A. Reveron was caught red-handed, but that might be an understatement.

Police dispatched to a West Lampeter Township apartment complex found the 18-year-old Willow Street-area man hiding in someone else's car — with hundreds of dollars of someone else's expensive electronic gear.

A second thief got away with a couple of purses, but his alleged accomplice coughed up his name to police.

Reveron, of 700 block of Penn Grant Road, and his partner are being charged with theft from a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit theft.

Officer Will Sanger said the two stole purses and electronic equipment — an iPod, a satellite radio system, a Nintendo gaming system and a Sony PlayStation — from several unlocked cars in the 1400 block of Lampeter Road and the Pioneer Woods apartment complex.

A couple of 911 callers saw the two teens opening car doors after 11 p.m. When police got to the apartment complex, they found Reveron hiding in a car — with all the stolen loot.

The second suspect fled with as many as three purses.

Sanger said the thefts occurred between 10 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday. It is unclear exactly how many cars were involved because many victims have yet to come forward.

It is not the first time Reveron has been in trouble. He was charged with theft over the summer after he allegedly stole a donation jar belonging to "Autism York" containing about $80 from the Turkey Hill at 2101 New Danville Pike.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Lampeter Township Police Department at 464-2421.

• In a separate incident, West Lampeter police are investigating a Thursday night break-in at Willow Street Auto Detail, 2176 Willow Street Pike. Police said the burglars used a pry bar to break in through the front door, then took undisclosed goods.
