Catholic hall to induct 4

Lancaster Catholic High School will add four new members to its Athletic Hall of Honor on Friday, Oct. 2.

The inductees will be introduced during halftime at Catholic's football game against Lampeter Strasburg. Prior to the game, they will be honored with a reception at the high school.

The inductees:

• Mike Dipaolo (Class of 1974) was a three-year letter winner in football and track. In football, he played running back and linebacker. As a senior he was named a team co-captain, Tri-County Football League All-Star and third-team AP All-State. In track, as a sophomore he finished second in the 180-yard hurdles at the PCIAA State Championship Meet. His junior year he set a record for the 300-yard hurdles. He was a four-year letter winner in wrestling. He finished third at the PCIAA state meet at 133 pounds as a freshman. As a junior he finished third in the L-L League meet at 155 pounds. As a senior, he was the wrestling team's co-captain and received the Lawrence Berger Award as the top student/athlete at LCHS.

• Walt Legenstein (Class of 1965) was a three-year letter winner in football, track, and wrestling. In football he played halfback and defensive back. In track he competed in the mile run. In wrestling, his senior year, he qualified for the Pennsylvania Catholic Interscholastic State Wrestling Championships, which he won in overtime with a 10-9 decision. In 2008, he received the J. Freeland Chryst Sports Achievement Award given to local athletes/coaches for athletic excellence and service to the community.

• Carolyn (Kreider) Wagman (Class of 1967) was a four-year letter winner in basketball and softball. She was the first girls' basketball player in school history to letter all four years. She was MVP as a senior. In softball, she played outfield and shortstop. She attended Shippensburg State College and lettered in basketball all four years. She was team MVP her senior season.

• Norm Bell (Class of 1955) was a three-year letter winner in football and basketball. He played offensive and defensive end in football. His junior year he was named Central Penn Catholic League Football All-Star. He started for the basketball team for two years. At Franklin & Marshall College, he was a three-year letter winner and two-year starter at offensive and defensive end.
