County preserves farms

Lancaster County commissioners on Wednesday approved the preservation of two farms, with assistance from supervisors in Warwick and Penn townships.

The commissioners authorized the preservation of a 79.4-acre crop and livestock farm owned by Raymond H. and Dorothy E. Good in Warwick and Penn townships. The county will pay $265,480 toward the development rights to the property, while Penn Township will chip in another $45,000 and Warwick Township will pay $7,000.

The commissioners also authorized the preservation of a 76-acre crop farm owned by Andrew S. and Andrea J. Bollinger in Warwick Township. The county will pay $261,540 toward the development rights, while Warwick Township had pledged another $42,500.
