A 6-year-old boy who was struck by a go-kart Sunday died Tuesday, police said.
A spokeswoman for the Dauphin County coroner's office identified the boy as Avery Wood of Reinholds. No autopsy was scheduled, she said.
The boy was struck in the parking lot of Weaver Markets, 2590 N. Reading Road, Adamstown, East Cocalico Township police said. The driver of the go-kart was identified as Bryan Wood, 42, of Ephrata.
Shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, the boy, who police said was related to Wood, was struck and injured, police said.
Reamstown Ambulance and Medic 4 treated the boy at the scene, police said. He was flown by helicopter to Hershey Medical Center.
The 6-year-old was pronounced dead there early Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
A 15-year-old Terre Hill girl riding with Wood also was injured, police said. Wood was not injured.
Reinholds Ambulance treated the girl at the scene and took her to Reading Hospital. She later was released, police said.
Police are still investigating the crash.
Weaver Markets General Manager Mike Weaver said the store and restaurant at Routes 897 and 272 were closed at the time of the accident.
Weaver Markets did not give anyone permission to drive go-karts on the property, he said.
