Officials have identified a body recovered from the Susquehanna River on Sunday as a Maryland man who fell off a boat south of Peach Bottom on Saturday.
Greg J. Temple, 30, of Conowingo, was reported missing after he entered the water around 2:30 a.m. and did not resurface.
According to fire officials, Jeremy Temple, 29, said he was starting the motor of the 12-foot boat when he saw his brother jump into the water with a flashlight.
Rescue personnel from Cecil County (Md.) were dispatched to search for the missing boater, but efforts were turned over to Robert Fulton Fire Company when it was determined that Temple had entered the water in Pennsylvania rather than in Maryland.
Crews combed the river for 15 hours Saturday but found no sign of Temple. His body was discovered by boaters at about 10 a.m. Sunday and recovered in Maryland.
Eric Levis of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, which is handling the investigation, said an autopsy was conducted Monday in Maryland. No additional details were available Monday night.
