An Ephrata woman walking on a Gettysburg sidewalk was killed Thursday during a multicar collision.
Patricia L. Pelliccione, 48, of 128 Chapel Lane, Ephrata, was struck in the 200 block of Baltimore Street after one of at least four cars involved in the accident, possibly a parked car, traveled onto the sidewalk in front of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church.
It is not certain if her husband, David J. Pelliccione, was with his wife at the time of the accident, but witnesses reported seeing two ministers, possibly from the church, consoling a man who sat sobbing on the steps of an adjacent residence as EMS personnel worked on the woman lying on the sidewalk.
A call to the family home was answered by David Pelliccione, who somberly declined to comment on the accident because "all of the police reports have not come back."
Although no details will be released by police until Monday, at least four vehicles reportedly were involved, although it was not immediately known which vehicles, if any, were parked and which were being driven.
The vehicles involved were a Ford F-350 with Florida plates, which reportedly was struck in the rear by a Volkswagen Jetta with Pennsylvania plates. A Honda Civic and a Chevrolet Impala, both with Pennsylvania plates, also were involved.
An autopsy is to be performed by the Adams County coroner today.
