"Michael Roseboro lied. And he cheated. But he only lied about cheating," his attorney told a Lancaster County jury today.

Roseboro, 42, is guilty of adultery, but he is not guilty of killing his wife, defense attorney Allan Sodomsky said.

In a two-hour closing argument this morning, Sodomsky accused prosecutors of building a circumstantial case around his client just to make an arrest, but  not  enough to convict.

This afternoon, District Attorney Craig Stedman was giving his closing argument to the jury.

Following Stedman, Judge James P. Cullen must explain the law to the jury before deliberations can begin.

Since both of those statements are expected to take several hours, Cullen told the jurors they may not get the case today.

The jury of eight women and four men have listened to 12 days of testimony to reach this point in the trial.

Prosecutors said Jan Roseboro, 45, the mother of four children, was strangled, beaten and drowned on the evening of July 22, 2008.

Prosecutors contend Roseboro murdered his wife because he was obsessed with his girlfriend.

"Mike Roseboro committed adultery," Sodomsky said in his closing.

"He hurt his friends. He became a very disliked person...Mr. Stedman will tell you it's a motive for murder. As bad as adultery is, anybody who does it thinks they can do it and not get caught because they don't want to hurt anyone."

"Murder is the ultimate hatred," Sodomsky said. "How much to you have to hate someone to beat the living hell out of them?"
