A tiny tan Chihuahua puppy "with droopy ears" has apparently found a new home — but not legally.
The puppy was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon from PJ's Pet Shop, 109 Doe Run Road, Manheim.
Niki Hilt, co-owner of the pet store, said Friday she had just brought the puppy back from the veterinarian, "so I know he weighs 2.2 pounds, and he's had all his shots."
The 7-week-old male puppy was described by Hilt as all tan, "with droopy ears." He is valued at $600.
Hilt told Penn Township police that shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday the dog was taken from his cage during a 10-minute period. At the same time, four teenagers were in the store looking at the animals, she said.
Police described three suspects as teenage girls, all Caucasian, with fair, lightly freckled skin. All three, who police said looked enough alike to be sisters, had medium to long brunette hair.
One girl, who was about 16-years old, is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, police said.
They were accompanied by a teenage boy with "dark shaggy hair," Hilt said.
