A tanker truck carrying farm-fresh milk overturned Friday, dumping part of its cargo.

The truck, owned by O'Donnell Brothers Transportation Inc. of Quarryville, was carrying 42,000 pounds of milk when the trailer overturned on Spooky Nook Road at Prospect Road around 9:45 a.m.

About 2,000 pounds of milk and two gallons of Diesel fuel were spilled.

"More than likely speed was a factor," said West Hempfield police Cpl. Douglas Ober.

The driver, Jerry O'Donnell of Drumore, was not injured. Charges are pending while the accident remains under investigation, Ober said.

Spooky Nook Road was closed for about two hours while firefighters from West Hempfield Fire Company and Lancaster County Hazmat crews cleaned up the spill.
