OK, here's what's happening on the local music scene.

The Dan Emrey Band is working on a 10-song demo that Emrey says he hopes to release in early September. The CD will include four original tracks — "I Will," "Blue: The Time of Day," "Black Creek" and "Mind, Body, and Soul." The other tracks will be covers of the Dixie Chicks' "Travelin' Soldier," Godsmack's "Re-Align," Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle," Blind Melon's "No Rain," Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger" and Eddie Vedder's "Big Hard Sun."

Joining Emrey on the project are Dane Fox on guitar, drums and vocals and Dave Heisey on guitar, bass and back-up vocals. Emrey will strap on a guitar and show off his vocal range for the CD.

Emrey said he'll release the tracks at myspace.com/thedanemreyband and his Facebook page.

You can catch Emrey live with different lineups at several local venues in the next week: Friday at Annie Bailey's Irish Pub, 28 E. King St., with Heisey on guitar and vocals and Gabe Treynor on percussion at 9:30 p.m.; July 10, at an outdoor show at The Reinholds Inn, 11 W. Main St., Reinholds, at 7:30 p.m.; and July 12, with Myers at a 6 p.m. show at Lloyd Roland Memorial Park in Akron as part of the Akron Summer Concert Series.

The Green Onions (www.myspace.com/thegreenonions) will take the stage Friday at Mount Hope Winery, 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, as part of the Back Yard BBQ Bash. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $7, but if you bring a canned food item you'll pay $5. You can purchase tickets here.

On Saturday, Green Onions Corty Byron and Scott Frenchek will perform at the Lititz 4th of July Celebration at Lititz Springs Park. Showtime is 1 p.m. You can catch the show live on Blue Ridge Cable Channel 11.

Corty will be at the Black Gryphon, 54 Mount Gretna Road, Elizabethtown, at 7 p.m. July 9 for an acoustic solo show.

• Did someone say food?

Vinegar Creek Constituency (www.myspace.com/thevinegarcreekconstituency) will be playing the Back Yard BBQ Bash as well, opening for Slimfit on July 10.

The bash, which benefits the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, will feature local music starting at 7 every Friday night in July. And did we mention there's food?

When not playing or chowing down at the Back Yard BBQ, Vinegar Creek will be preparing to record their next CD. The band goes into the studio — The Dirty Baby Studio, we're told — to start recording on July 19.

The new material — written by guitarist-vocalist Leo DiSanto and mandolinist-vocalist Jeff Bryson — will "bend the genre" a bit, according to Leo.

I guess we'll find out what that means in few months.

• This just in: Local six-piece "vaudeville folk band" Perkasie will be in the 40-band lineup when WXPN's three-day XPONential Music Festival '09 hits the Camden Waterfront on the last weekend in July.

Perkasie is slated for the Jersey Arts.com Marina Stage at 2:20 p.m. July 26.

Haven't heard 'em yet? Then get thee to www.myspace.com/perkasieband as fast as you possibly can. You won't be disappointed.

Or better yet, catch them live this Friday at Art and Glassworks on North Queen Street, this Saturday at Freedom Fest at Marion Court or this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Chestnut Hill Cafe. Looks like a busy weekend for Perkasie.

• Tired of those long summers without music at the Lancaster Dispensing Company?

Well wake up! This summer, LDC will be featuring music for every Music Friday. Loretta Bilieux (www.myspace.com/lorettabilieux) will be making a rare public appearance (complete with whipped cream, no doubt) on July17, and Vinegar Creek Constituency (You've heard of them, right?) will appear on Aug. 21.

But wait, as the infomercial gurus always say — there's more. On Aug. 14, singer-songwriter Adam Taylor (www.myspace.com/adamtaylormusic) will be performing as part of a tour that will take him all the way to Portland, Ore.

On Aug. 28, Tony Kirchner will return to LDC with yet another LAUNCH Music Conference-inspired singer-songwriter spotlight. And if it's anything like the last one, you won't want to miss it. We'll pass along details as they arise.

• Wine, wine, wine. It seems like all The Buskers do these days. And that's OK with us.

The Buskers — all six of them — will be playing two new venues this month: The West Hanover Winery, 7646 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, from 7-10 p.m. July 25; and the Hauser Winery in Biglerville, Adams County, from 5-8 p.m. July 31. We'll drink to that.

For more information, check out the Buskers' Web site at www.thebuskersofpa.com.

Can't wait that long? The Buskers will performing this Saturday at Harrisburg's American MusicFest on the riverfront at 12:30 p.m. Look for them on the Patriot News Market Street Stage. And tell them we sent you.

The Mint (www.myspace.com/themintonline) is on track to finish its latest CD in the next two weeks, according to guitarist and singer Jon Decker. He said the 11- to 12-track CD should be released by early fall.

Decker also said the band is planning a CD-release show at the Chameleon. Plans are still being worked out, so check out future columns for more details.

The band won't be playing locally until August, but you can catch them July 25 at North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar St., Phila. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at www.northstarbar.com.

The Mint will share the stage with The New Connection and Panic Years, both out of Philly, and Post Panda from Brooklyn, N.Y.

The show kicks off at 9 p.m.

Finally, a few quick hits.

Stu Huggens just reminded us that it's "Band Night" at the open mic at The Symposium this Monday evening. The lineup includes Short Bus Billy, Gene Pool & The Lifeguards and, not surprisingly, the Stu Huggens Band.

Stu is also promising to give away some Jack Daniels T-shirts and hats. Now if that doesn't get your attention, what will?

• And Hiram Ring (www.hiramring.com) sent us a link to one of the tracks he's been recording for a new "Sacred Songs" CD project he hopes to release in October. It's called "Communion Hymn," and you can check it out or download it here.

• And singer-songwriter-Dobroist Angelo M. (www.angelom.com) is due back from the West Coast, where he's been touring in support of his newly released album "Steelwork." He'll be holding a CD-release party &tstr; along with special guests Bob Beach Trio and Shawn Gallagher &tstr; on Thursday evening at Lancaster Dispensing Company. Music starts at 8.
