Girl, 5, struck by tractor-trailer in E. Earl

A 5-year-old girl was critically injured this morning after officials said she was struck by a tractor-trailer truck in East Earl Township.

The child, identified as Michelle Hurst, was flown by helicopter to Hershey Medical Center, according to a television news report.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Lancaster Avenue, just outside Terre Hill, according to emergency dispatchers.

According to a relative of the child who spoke with WGAL-TV, the girl was riding her bicycle with her mother, Maryann Hurst, who was also riding a bicycle that was pulling a carrier containing her two young sons.
