Four suspects who allegedly entered a home in West Lampeter Township fled with stolen cash after shooting a house guest in the shoulder, police said.

Police went to the home in the 100 block of Great Lawn Circle at 2:30 a.m. today, and officers found a small gathering of people who said they'd been robbed.

The victims — who included the homeowner and guests — told police four suspects entered the house through an unlocked basement door.

The suspects demanded money then ran off after the victims turned over an undisclosed amount of cash — but not before shooting an adult male in the shoulder, officers said.

Police said the wound appeared to be from a BB gun, and no other victims were seriously injured.

Officers would not confirm if the shooting was unprovoked or if it happened during a physical altercation between a robber and victim.

The four invaders were described as three black or Hispanic males and one black or Hispanic woman, police said. They were believed to be between 5 -foot-10 and 6-foot-2.

All were wearing dark clothing and masks, police said.

Witnesses said the suspects escaped in a red hatchback with a loud exhaust.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call West Lampeter Police Department at 464-2421.

In an unrelated event, state police charged a man with robbery after he allegedly entered a home in Paradise Township in March and assaulted a man.

Police said Donald Wayne Roop, 31, of Paradise, was arrested and charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, burglary, terroristic threats and simple assault on Tuesday.

Investigators said Roop entered a home just off Lincoln Highway East through the unlocked front door.

He then assaulted one of the occupants, a 28-year-old male, while he ransacked the house in search of money and valuables.

Police said Roop stole some items inside the home then left through the front door, smashing the glass panes with a hammer on his way out.

Roop was arraigned before a magistrate district judge then committed to Lancaster County in lieu of $100,000 bail.
