Manheim Township police arrested two of the three youths they say were burglarizing houses Tuesday afternoon in East Petersburg.

Jarred T. McGille-Myrie, 19, of 649 S. Anne St., was charged with burglary and conspiracy. Charges also are pending in juvenile court against a 17-year-old whose name was not released due to his age.

Police were called about 2:20 p.m. to the 6400 block of Lemon Street in the borough for a report of two youths in hooded jackets acting suspicious and going from house to house.

Officer Ray Bradley found the 17-year-old in a car nearby and began questioning him. As he did so, the other two appeared, saw the officer and took off running, according to a news release.

Bradley broadcast a description of the two. Within minutes, an East Hempfield Township officer matched McGill-Myrie to the description and arrested him on Route 72. The second fugitive eluded capture.

Police said they found signs of forced entry in one of the Lemon Street houses, and several items were missing.

McGill-Myrie was arraigned before District Judge David Brian and committed to Lancaster County Prison. Bail amount was not immediately available. The 17-year-old was released to his parents.

Also on Tuesday, Manheim Township police arrested a woman they accuse of being a repeat shoplifter.

Taryn L. English, 31, of Hess Boulevard, was spotted stealing DVDs about 7:30 p.m. at Kmart, 1890 Fruitville Pike, police said.

She was identified as the person who stole DVDs from the same store on April 29, police said. The total value of the DVDs was $334, police said.

English was charged with two counts of retail theft and possession of instruments of crime. She was arraigned before District Judge Jene Willwerth and sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
