Police in Manheim Township said  today they nabbed two alleged burglars after receiving helpful tips from concerned residents.

Officers said they responded to reports of several suspicious individuals wearing hoods in the 6400 block of Lemon Street in East Petersburg just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police were told the suspects were walking from house to house and were seen going toward the rear of one of the residences.

When officers arrived, they spotted a 17-year-old male seated in a car. Officer Ray Bradley said he approached the juvenile and began speaking with him.

The juvenile's two accomplices saw the officer and immediately ran in the opposite direction — cutting through a backyard to get away from the police.

Bradley broadcast a description of the suspects over the radio, police said.

A short time later, East Hempfield Officer Jennifer Kulicki saw one of the suspects on Route 72 and took him into custody.

Police in Manheim Township said the third suspect could not be located.

Investigators discovered that one of the homes in the 6400 block of Lemon Street had been forcibly entered and several unidentified items had been stolen.

Officers arrested Jarred T. McGill-Myrie, 19 of 649 South Anne St., Lancaster on charges of  burglary and criminal conspiracy.

He was arraigned before a magistrate district judge and committed to Lancaster County Prison.

Charges are pending against the 17-year-old juvenile, who was released to his parents, police said.
