Man hits state police cruiser in 7-mile chase

A woman who attacked a city police officer Saturday was charged with one count of aggravated assault and committed to Lancaster County Prison, police said.

Police accused Angela Erickson, 40, of assaulting Officer Steven Reich about 1:15 a.m. after she was stopped for public drunkenness in the first block of South Queen Street.

CHASE:
John Quigley, 40, of the 200 block of Pleasant Valley Road, was sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail after he led police on a seven-mile pursuit Friday, East Cocalico Township police said.

Police said Quigley drove into a yard shortly before 7 p.m. and hit a rail fence in the 100 block of East Church Street.

Officers spotted his car about 50 minutes later on East Swartzville Road near Lynda Drive, police said, but Quigley refused to stop until his car hit a state police cruiser parked in the 900 block of Leid Road, Brecknock Township.

He faces charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended license, according to police. Other charges are pending the results of blood tests, police said.

FELONY RETAIL THEFT:
Alletah March, 44, of the first block of Arch Street, Ephrata, was arrested April 14 for felony retail theft at Sharp Shopper, 1040 Sharp Ave., Ephrata, police said.

March was arraigned in front of Judge Rodney Hartman and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $14,000 bail.

CRASHES: A Peach Bottom woman suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash Thursday.

Katlyn M. Snyder, 21, was heading north on Little Britain Church Road, Fulton Township, at 5:55 p.m. when her vehicle collided at Fulton Inn Road with a pickup truck driven by Brent A. Melrath, 28, Nottingham, police said.

Melrath's truck then struck an embankment, police said, but he was not injured.

Snyder, who had minor injuries to her right arm, was charged with a stop sign violation, police said.

•Harmanjit Rana, 29, Bakersfield, Calif., was cited after an accident at Huyard and North Shirk roads at 10:36 p.m. Friday, New Holland police said. No injuries were reported.

•Delmar Zeiset suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Lancaster General Hospital Friday when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Beverly Leisey at West Main Street and Clay Road, Clay Township police said.

Leisey and her passenger were not injured, police said.

The crash happened at 8:18 p.m. when Leisey pulled into Zeiset's path, police said.

Zeiset and Leisey are from Stevens, according to police.

Brickerville Ambulance, Medic 4 and Durlach/Mount Airy Fire Company responded to the scene.

COUNTERFEIT: Employees at Musser's Market, 3900 block of Columbia Avenue, reported Wednesday receiving a counterfeit $20 bill from a male the night before during payment of an order. The fake bill was kept by the store and the man paid with legal money before leaving. Anyone with information may contact West Hempfield Township police, 285-5191.

DRINKING CHARGES:
West Hempfield Township police said Stephen Buckholz, 45, Millersville, will be charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped for erratic driving at 12:23 a.m. Thursday on Columbia Avenue.

•Kosmos Bye, 22, of the first block of East High Street, Wolmelsdorf, was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday, East Cocalico Township police said. A passer-by found Bye sleeping in his idling car at a stop sign on Hickory Lane at Reinholds Road, woke him up and reported that he was driving erratically, police said.

Officers stopped Bye at 1 a.m. in the first block of West Church Street and found that his blood alcohol level was 0.149, police said.

•Dexter Dollhofer, 29, 500 block of Main Street, Denver, was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday, East Cocalico Township police said.

Dollhofer was stopped for driving in the wrong lane on Denver Road and going through a stop sign at Monroe Street at 1:40 a.m., police said; A blood alcohol test registered 0.106.

•Douglass Fehr, 37, of the 500 block of Hertzog Valley Road, Denver, was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness Saturday, East Cocalico Township police said. Fehr brandished a pocket knife, yelled and threatened passers-by in the 200 block of Main Street at 4:30 p.m., police said.

FIRES:
Two adults and a child were displaced by a Friday night fire at a building in the first block of East Main Street in Lititz. Damage was confined to one apartment.

The Red Cross reported it was assisting the victims.

The fire is under investigation, according to Lititz Borough police. No further information was released by police Saturday night.

•A fire that destroyed a car Friday in the 500 block of Hand Avenue is being investigated as arson, Lancaster police said.

Officers were called at 11:24 p.m. and arrived to find the Chevrolet Malibu sedan engulfed in flames, police said. A state police fire marshal is investigating.

The car's owner lives in Lancaster but not at the site of the fire, police said.

STOLEN:
A Mount Joy man reported Wednesday to West Hempfield Township police that a large television set was taken from his apartment in the 4400 block of Miller Drive. Anyone with information may call police at 285-5191.

•A leaf blower and concrete saw were among items stolen from a home in the 1700 block of Kleinfeltersville Road between April 19 and Wednesday, Clay Township police said. Call police at 733-0965 with any information.

TRESPASS:
West Hempfield Township police took Carlos Felix-DeLeon, 36, into custody at 12:21 a.m. Tuesday after a trespassing incident in the 2100 block of Oak Hollow Drive.

Police gave the following account: DeLeon was reported to be inside an apartment, despite having been warned against trespass. He attempted to flee out a rear window, but retreated upon seeing police. He surrendered after police surrounded the building. DeLeon was arraigned on a defiant trespassing charge, police said.

VANDALISM:
The back window of a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer was broken between 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday while the vehicle was parked at Sharp Shopper, 1040 Sharp Ave., Ephrata, Clay Township police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 733-0965.
