Manheim Township police on Thursday arrested a Peach Bottom man who allegedly was observed with a gun in his vehicle at Lancaster Shopping Center on Lititz Pike.
Officers arrested John L. Wallace Jr., 22, of the 1200 block of Blackbarren Road, as he attempted to leave the shopping center about 9 p.m. Thursday.
Police said officers, responding to a report of a man with a gun in the parking lot, spotted a weapon in Wallace's car when they pulled him over for a traffic stop. Further investigation revealed that the serial number had been removed from the weapon, police said.
Officer Steven Newman charged Wallace with two felonies — possession of a firearm with altered manufacturer's number and firearm not to be carried without a license — according to court documents.
Wallace was arraigned before District Judge David Miller and sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
