Plum Street Gourmet will open Feb. 2 at its new location, 1831 Oregon Pike, across from Stauffer's of Kissel Hill.

The catering business and gourmet food store, owned by Anne Eshelman, opened in 1989 at 347 N. Plum St. For many years, Eshelman also operated a stand at Central Market.

The market stand closed in 2006, and Eshelman recently dropped retail sales to focus on catering. She sold the Plum Street building in the fall.

For Eshelman, opening a new store means the return of retail sales. In addition to a bakery case and specialty coffee beverages, Plum Street Gourmet will offer deli sandwiches, two soups each day, salads, and prepared foods including frozen entrées.

Anticipated hours: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with reduced hours on Saturday.

Houseal's closing

Houseal's Store, a general merchandise store at 15 E. High St., Maytown, is closing at the end of this week.

The roughly 1,000-square-foot store, which opened in Maytown in 1900, was recently run by Jay Houseal and his son, Tony. The senior Houseal bought the store in 1943.

Pizza shop update

The owners of Nick's Pizza, who closed their restaurant at 247 N. Queen St. late last year, are looking for a new spot for the restaurant and hope to open somewhere in the city this summer.

The restaurant, founded by Nick Parveris, moved from New Holland to North Queen Street in 1999. Parveris' daughters, Cristina and Emanuella, operated the restaurant after his death in 2002.

When the restaurant's lease expired at the end of November, the daughters decided to look for a new location, Emanuella Parveris said.

Swashbuckler open

The Swashbuckler Brewery & Restaurant on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate & Winery is now open Thursdays through Saturdays.

The brew pub had previously been open only during the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire and other special events held on the estate, 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim.

Hours: 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
