A Gordonville man died just after midnight Sunday when a car in which he was riding struck a utility pole in Paradise Township.
Jeremiah Eisenhower, 25, died after the car, a 2006 Dodge Stratus, collided with a pole on Cherry Hill Road just north of Route 741 (Strasburg Road), officials said.
Lancaster County deputy coroner Robert Granzow pronounced Eisenhower dead at the crash scene. He was pinned inside the car and appeared deceased when first-responders arrived, officials said.
Pennsylvania State Police responded to the crash at 12:02 a.m. and found the Dodge in a cornfield, about 30 feet from the roadway.
The driver — 25-year-old Thomas Sensenig of Kinzers — wasn't hurt in the crash. Police are investigating what caused him to veer off the road and into the pole on the east shoulder.
The passenger side of the Stratus struck the pole, police said.
No charges were filed Sunday.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts, investigators said.
Eisenhower's autopsy showed that he died of multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the crash, County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said.
Toxicology tests for drugs and alcohol in Eisenhower's system were done, as they are with any crash-related autopsy, Diamantoni said. Those results are expected within two to three weeks.
Paradise firefighters and a Lancaster EMS crew assisted police at the scene.
