Pennsylvania Game Commission officers were trying to locate the deer hunter who shot through the bedroom window of a West Cocalico Township home today.

Around 7:35 a.m., a shotgun slug broke the glass of a window and put a hole through the curtain in the bedroom of a farmette on Tannery Road, north of Denver.

A woman was in the master bedroom's bathroom, about 30 feet from the window, but was not injured, according to Steve Martin, a wildlife conservation officer for northeastern Lancaster County.

Late this morning, officers were in the process of trying to locate the hunter on an adjoining woodlot.

The incident was the only major disruption reported by local game wardens on the opening morning of Pennsylvania's traditional gun deer season.

Martin checked a treestand placed over an illegal bait pile today on State Game Lands 52 in Brecknock Township, but no one was in the treestand.

Just over the Lancaster County line in Spring Township, Berks County, a hunter fell as he climbed into his treestand before light and suffered a back injury. The incident happened near Vincent and Fritztown roads. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene. No other information was available.
