A 65-year-old Ronks woman was heading to a popular area restaurant for breakfast Saturday morning when a teenage girl pulled out from a private driveway into the path of her car, East Lampeter Township police said.
A brick wall possibly prevented the teen from seeing the oncoming car of Mary Anne Garber in the 100 block of North Ronks Road, police said.
The front of Garber's white 1997 Saturn struck the driver's side of the red 1992 Buck operated by the 16-year-old female driver, police said.
Garber, of South Cherry Lane, Ronks, was badly hurt in the 9:08 a.m. crash. She was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital, police said.
The 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy who was a front-seat passenger in her car were admitted to Lancaster General Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening. Investigators did not release their names as they are juveniles.
Garber, who worked in the food service department at Lancaster Mennonite High School, was heading to the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant to have breakfast with others, a relative said.
The accident happened near the Ronks Fire House, which is about halfway between between Route 30 and Route 340.
The driveway which the 16-year-old pulled out of is on the east side of North Ronks Road. A brick wall which runs across the front of the property might have blocked her view of the oncoming car, police said.
The accident investigation continues, and no charges have been filed. Anyone with information abut the crash is asked to contact East Lampeter police Lt. Rob Eachus at 291-4676.
Garber was the 47th person to did in traffic accidents this year in Lancaster County. There were 57 traffic deaths at this time in 2007.
