Two men rang a doorbell at a West Hempfield Township home and opened fire with BB guns when the occupants looked out a window, township police said.
The Tuesday night incidentnear Farmdale was one of several recent assault cases investigated by Lancaster-area police.
Ryan Bowden, who lives in the 700 block of Ferndale Road, Mount Joy, told West Hempfield police Officer Karl Hartranft that someone rang the front door bell at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Bowden and Brittany Steberger, of Lancaster, looked out a second-floor window to see who was there.
Police said two men looked up and shot at Bowden and Steberger with BB guns. One of the pellets struck Steberger in the face, police said. The woman declined medical treatment.
The two men fled on foot. Police checked the area, but could not locate them. West Hempfield police ask anyone with information about the incident to call them at 285-5191.
Several recent assault cases in Lancaster have led to arrests, city police report.
• School Safety Officer David Shell charged a 17-year-old boy with simple assault after an incident Wednesday at McCaskey East High School, 1051 Lehigh Ave. The 17-year-old allegedly assaulted another student during school hours, police said.
• Eric Keith Mason, 27, of 47 S. Lime St., Apt. 1, was arrested for simple assault (domestic violence) from an incident on Sunday, city police said.
Mason assaulted his 30-year-old girlfriend at her home in the 100 block of Church Street, Officer Michael Whitaker said. The woman told police that Mason started choking her, grabbed her by the neck, and struck her on the head and face.
• Angel L. Morales, 24, who lives in an apartment at 326 E. King St., was charged with aggravated assault after a Monday morning incident in the 500 block of St. Joseph Street, police said.
Morales struck a 21-year-old man in the left cheek with a small baseball bat, police said. Officer Aaron Szulborski charged Morales, who was committed to the county prison on a detainer, police said.
• A 15-year-old boy allegedly punched a teacher and made threats to others Monday morning at Community School South, 175 S. West End Ave., city police learned.
Officer Adam Flurry charged the 15-year-old boy with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and four counts of terroristic threats. The boy was committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center, police said.
• Melissa E. Richardson, 23, and Daniell Richardson, 21, who are sisters, were charged with simple assault (domestic violence) after a fight they had Monday afternoon at their 716 Manor St., home, Officer Jared Snader reported.
Neither woman posted $5,000 cash bail, police said.
• Mark A. Russell, 26, of 1623 Judie Lane, Apt. H-8, failed to post $25,000 cash bail on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and trespassing, filed by Lancaster police Officer Matt Odenthal.
Russell was arrested when police responded to a disturbance-in-progress call early Saturday morning at Lancaster Regional Medical Center, 250 College Ave.
Police said Russell refused to leave the area and punched a security officer in the face, causing bruising.
Ryan C. Colburn, 20, and Jeffery Fisher, 20, both of 611 College Ave., were arrested on misdemeanor disorderly-conduct charges during the call, police said.
