A suspected drunk driver crashed her car into a utility pole early Sunday in Fulton Township, toppling it and downing electrical wires, officials said.
Ashlynn Becker, 22, and her passenger, Douglas Trauger, 32, sustained minor injuries in the 5 a.m. crash in the 700 block of Nottingham Road, police said.
Police said Becker, of Pequea, was traveling south on Nottingham Road when she lost control of her Ford Escort and struck the pole head-on, according to police.
Both occupants were trapped in the car after the crash, police said.
Firefighters freed Becker from the car first and sent her by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital.
Police said they are preparing to file a charge of driving under the influence against her.
The proximity of live electrical wires prevented Trauger, of Conestoga, from exiting the car right away. After the pole and wires were cleared, Trauger was helped out of the car. A SkyCare medical helicopter flew him to Lancaster General Hospital, officials said.
Both occupants were believed to have been treated and released because they weren't on a nursing supervisor's list of patients Sunday night. Fulton Township firefighters assisted state police at the crash scene.
