Students have returned to school — and so have police.
A 15-year-old East Petersburg girl was charged with carrying a knife on school property at Hempfield High School on Friday, according to East Hempfield Township police.
The charge was filed with juvenile probation officials, and the girl was released to her parents, police said.
Police said they had received an anonymous tip that the female student was carrying a weapon.
When apprehended, the student told police she just felt safer having the knife and wasn't planning to use it to attack someone.
Another incident occurred at the high school football game between Garden Spot and Hempfield on Friday night in New Holland.
New Holland Borough police charged a 15-year-old Garden Spot student for disorderly conduct after a fight in which he struck another Garden Spot student in the face during the game.
In another matter, on Monday state police charged two 15-year-old boys with harassment after a physical altercation at Pequea Valley High School.
