Lancaster city police have arrested a trio of city teenagers suspected in more than a dozen vehicle break-ins.

The boys, ages 13, 15 and 16, were nabbed early Sunday morning on Millersville Pike, only minutes after they entered a car in the second block of South Pearl Street, police said.

All three boys were carrying items that didn't belong to them, investigators said.

"One (boy) did admit they were in as many as 13 cars that night," Lancaster city police Sgt. Jarrad Berkihiser said Monday evening.

The targeted vehicles were parked on Pearl Street or in surrounding blocks, police said.

Police believe all the vehicles were left unlocked. The boys allegedly stole electronics, a checkbook and other items from the vehicles.

One boy was found carrying a flashlight, police said.

A victim called police about 5:30 a.m. Sunday after he saw people in his car on the second block of South Pearl Street. A neighbor told police he saw three males flee, investigators said.

Minutes later, officers spotted three young males and stopped them for violating curfew. The officers then found stolen items on all the boys.

As of Monday night, each boy had been charged with the theft in the 100 block of South Pearl Street.

Berkihiser said police were working on bringing charges for the other break-ins.
