Drunk drivers keep county police busy

A rash of crashes and vehicle stops over the Labor Day holiday weekend resulted in arrests for suspected drunken driving, Lancaster County police report.

Lancaster state police said Nathaniel Oberholtzer, 21, Narvon, was arrested for suspected DUI (drug-related) following an accident at 11:54 p.m. Monday on Route 772 near Scenic Drive in Leacock Township.

Oberholtzer's 1995 Mazda Protégé struck a telephone pole, Trooper Tim Repp reported.

Manheim Township police arrested Ramon Mercado, 69, of 38 N. Lime St., for suspected drunken driving shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Fruitville Pike. Officer Cody Lewis stopped Mercado after police received a report of a vehicle swerving.

Zachary Watts, Ephrata, is being charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with a crash at 12:54 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Church Avenue, Ephrata police said.

Lancaster state police said the following motorists were arrested for suspected drunken driving early Monday morning:

• Ibragim Aydinov, Lancaster, who was stopped at 1:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of Lincoln Highway East, near Bridgeport.

• Scott Hinds, Lancaster, who was stopped at 12:30 a.m. on Route 462 at Strasburg Pike in East Lampeter Township.

• Mario Cisnero-Alejandrez, no address listed, who was stopped on Route 283, east of the Salunga exit in East Hempfield Township, at 4:01 a.m.

Garry Lee Hollow Jr., Lancaster, and Daniel Rosa Costa, Quarryville, were each arrested for suspected drunken driving at 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Byerland Church Road in Providence Township, Lancaster state police said.

At 2:07 a.m. Sunday, Omar S. Esh, 22, Gap, was arrested for suspected DUI at White Horse Road and Hoffmeier Road in Salisbury Township, troopers said.

Manor Township police arrested Rolando Dominguez, Hialeah Gardens, Fla., and Richard Alcantara, 909 Clark St., Lancaster, for suspected drunken driving.

Dominguez was stopped at 2:16 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Columbia Avenue, and Alcantara was stopped at 1:21 a.m. Saturday on Columbia Avenue at Hampden Drive, near Mountville, Officer Colleen Tatara reported.
