GALA BENEFITS CHILDREN'S INITIATIVE
Celebrate seafood, and help children at the same time.
Billed as an end-of-summer "island evening," the nonprofit St. Joseph Health Ministries' Fourth Annual Gala will be held 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Armstrong Manor, 2025 Lititz Pike, Lancaster.
The event will feature seafood, live music and a silent auction, which will include memorabilia from sports notables like Joe Paterno and Tiger Woods.
Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Joseph Health Ministries' "Brush. Brush. Smile!" children's oral-health program.
Since its debut in 2004, Brush. Brush. Smile! has provided nearly $2.5 million worth of free dental care and oral-health education to more than 13,500 children across Lancaster County's 16 school districts.
The hallmark of Brush. Brush. Smile! is the "Brush Brush Bus," a mobile dental clinic that travels to area schools.
When the first Brush Brush Bus hit the road, an estimated 19,000 children in Lancaster County had never visited a dentist.
A second bus will debut this fall.
The bus will resemble the original inside and out, and will include a full-time dental team, complete with dentist, hygienist and two assistants. Children will receive a full range of dental care, including exams, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, extractions and fillings.
St. Joseph Health Ministries (
www.sjhm.org) is dedicated to improving the health of Lancaster County children in need.
Cost for the gala is $140. To purchase tickets, call 397-7625 by Thursday.
