A BAR FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Obesity rates in America are on the rise, and millions of people are searching for a magic pill.
But will a bar do the trick?
Dr. Michael Snyder claims it can.
Snyder, who has tallied more than 1,500 bariatric weight-loss surgeries, developed the Fullbar, to operate under the same principles as the surgery.
He says that consuming the bar with eight ounces of water 30 minutes before a meal will help those trying to lose weight feel full.
Each bar is made of a combination of puffed wheat and nuts and has 180 calories, 4 grams fiber, 9 grams sugar and 4.5 grams fat. Bars come in several flavors, including Caramel Apple Crisp and Cocoa Chip.
As founder of the Denver Bariatric Center of Excellence, Snyder estimates that he has helped patients lose more than 150,000 pounds. The center specializes in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and bariatric surgery.
Snyder graduated from Harvard University and earned his medical doctorate from the University of Miami. He completed his residency and internship in general surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Also the author of "Why Diets Don't Work" ($19.99), Snyder says he has had a lifelong struggle with weight loss, but through lifestyle changes, he has lost 60 pounds. He says he has kept it off for nine years.
The Fullbar is available at GNC retail stores.
A box of 24 bars retails for $49.99. For details and a trial offer, go to
