Lancaster City and nearby suburban townships continue to be favorite targets for thieves who are seeking money, electronic items and copper.
Reporting theft losses were:
• Quang Van Nguyen, of the 1200 block of Landis Valley Road. Unknown suspects smashed a window of a vehicle in his driveway on Sunday night and stole cash, Manheim Township police said.
• A 52-year-old woman who lives in the 700 block of Beaver Street. Thieves broke a window of her 1998 Dodge coupe Sunday morning and walked away with a $400 DVD/MP3/compact-disc/stereo unit, city police said.
• A 51-year-old woman who lives in the 1700 block of Southport Drive in Lancaster Township. Suspects, believed to be two teenage boys, stole about $40 worth of jewelry, $4 cash and a leather jacket from her 1999 Ford station wagon early Sunday morning, city police said.
• A 40-year-old man who lives in the 400 block of East Strawberry Street. Thieves did about $200 damage when they broke a window of his 2007 Chevrolet on Sunday afternoon to steal a $100 GPS navigational system, city police said.
Thieves also stole:
• Copper tubing valued at about $1,000 from a property at 919 N. Prince St. in Manheim Township. The theft happened Thursday night, police said.
• A purse containing about $40 cash that belonged to a 31-year-old woman. It was taken between 9:45 and 10 p.m. Sunday from her apartment in the 200 block of West King Street, city police said.
• A $500 desktop computer and a $230 GPS unit that were in a 2007 Honda in the 300 block of North Lime Street. Thieves broke a back window of the vehicle sometime Saturday night and grabbed the items, which had a total value of $730, city police said.
Lancaster police also are investigating a robbery reported at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Orange Street. Two young males assaulted a 43-year-old man and stole $28 from him, officers were told.
