A popular Mount Gretna bar and restaurant was damaged by a fire early today.

The Mount Gretna Hide-A-Way, 40 Boulevard St., caught fire at about 5 a.m. No injuries were reported, but the kitchen and dining room were damaged significantly. Mount Gretna Fire Chief Bob Dowd said the fire most likely started in the kitchen.

He added that the cause was not known, but did not appear to be suspicious.

A damage estimate was not available this morning.

Jason Brandt, the owner of the restaurant, said that its bar and deck will be open for usual business hours by this weekend. The kitchen and dining room will be closed for at least a month.

Also this weekend, a home in Columbia Borough caught fire early Sunday morning.

Firefighters from Columbia, Wrightsville and Susquehanna Columbia companies responded to the call.

The family is not able to stay in the home, a neighbor said.

Fire officials could not be reached for comment today.
