Pennsylvania state police said they arrested a 20-year-old Lancaster man for driving under the influence Sunday, then arrested his friend on the same charge after he allegedly drove drunk to the police barracks.
Daniel Velcheck was arrested just after 4 a.m. Sunday on Nassau Road in Lancaster city, state police said.
About an hour later, Phillip Wenger, also 20, drove to the state police barracks on Lincoln Highway East to pick up his friend.
Troopers spoke with Wenger, and they suspected he was intoxicated. He was tested and subsequently charged with DUI.
Both men were released and will be summoned to court to face the charge.
The DUI charges were two of at least 10 filed over the weekend by troopers at state police's Lancaster barracks.
DUI-enforcement details also led to arrests in East Lampeter, East Hempfield, Providence and Salisbury townships.
Elsewhere, Manheim Township police said they charged two motorists who crashed while driving under the influence Saturday night.
Jason Dever, 34, and George Hargrove, 45, were involved in separate wrecks about 30 minutes apart, police said.
At 9:30 p.m., Dever was driving north on Route 272 and struck the back of a car stopped and trying to turn left onto White Oak Drive, police said. That car was driven by a 17-year-old Manheim Township girl, police said.
Dever, of Ephrata, was treated at Lancaster General Hospital for minor injuries. The girl wasn't hurt.
Later, Hargrove, of Lancaster city, was driving south on Roseville Road and missed a stop sign at Eden Road, according to police. Hargrove's vehicle veered across the intersection and struck a concrete drainage area. He wasn't seriously hurt.
Both men were released after blood tests done at Lancaster General Hospital showed they were under the influence, police said.
Each will be mailed a summons to appear in court, police said.
