A Washington Boro woman is expected to waive her right to a preliminary hearing on charges stemming from a traffic accident last month on Route 30 that left three men dead.
Sarah L. Timblin, 23, was charged with three counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of intoxicants. Police said she crashed head-on into a car around 2:40 a.m. on March 11.
All three people in the car — Inocente Sanchez, 40, his brother, Luis Sanchez, 45, and Marlin Banks, 47 — died at the scene, police said. The three men, all from York, were on their way to work at the time of the accident, police said.
Timblin was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Miller. A spokeswoman for Miller's office said Timblin is expected to waive that right on Friday morning.
Timblin, who remains in Lancaster County Prison, will have her case scheduled for trial.
Police said Timblin drove her sport utility vehicle down the wrong way of the Harrisburg Pike exit ramp onto the eastbound lane of Route 30, near Park City Center, before crashing into the car. She was not seriously hurt.
Her blood alcohol content at the time was 0.26 percent, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to her arrest warrant affidavit.
Under Pennsylvania law, a conviction of homicide by vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants carries a mandatory minimum sentence of three years in prison.
In 2006, Timblin was arrested for drunken driving after police found her passed out behind the wheel of a van, which was still running but stuck on top of a curb on Columbia Avenue.
