Avondale state police are still investigating the Thursday night Route 41 crash that killed one of their new troopers.

Investigators said they are seeking witnesses to the 10:20 p.m. crash that claimed the life of Trooper Kenton Iwaniec, of Lancaster, who graduated from the State Police Academy in December.

As of late this morning, no charges had been filed.

The 24-year-old Iwaniec was heading to his East Lampeter Township home after working his shift at the Avondale barracks when a Chester County woman's 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV crossed into the opposite lane of two-lane Route 41, north of Chatham, police said.

The Tahoe, driven by Kristina M. Quercetti, 40, of Landenberg, struck the side of an Ephrata man's 1997 Chevrolet Silverado truck and then struck Iwaniec's 2005 Hyundai Elantra head-on, said Cpl. Steve Ranck of the Avondale barracks.

Iwaniec died at Christiana Hospital in northern Delaware.

Quercetti had a minor injury and a  5-year-old boy who was in a child safely safety seat in her vehicle was not injured.

Neither was Larry Keith, 54, of Ephrata, who was driving the Silverado, police said.

The crash happened at the Mosquito Lane intersection, about five miles north of the Pennsylvania-Delaware line.

Trooper Henry Callithen, who is a criminal investigator at the Avondale barracks,  is heading the investigation.
