A 20-year-old Christiana man was drunk Sunday night when he led police on a car chase that ended with his arrest in Earl Township, investigators said.
Kevin Allen Gray, of 208 Pine St., led East Earl Township police Officer Michael Vance on a 4-mile chase after Gray refused to pull over for erratic driving, investigators said.
Gray crashed and tried to run away, but Vance caught him in a field about 8 p.m., investigators said.
Gray was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, fleeing police, underage drinking and several summary traffic violations.
The reckless endangerment charge was related to Gray's erratic driving as he fled police.
Gray was released from Lancaster County Prison last month after serving about 5 months on a burglary charge.
Monday night, Gray was back at the prison in lieu of $15,000 bail, police said.
Police gave the following account:
Vance tried to pull over Gray's Honda CRV for driving erratically on Route 897, just outside Terre Hill Borough.
Gray ignored the cruiser's sirens and flashing lights and drove north into the borough.
He went west on Main Street and left the borough on Centerville Road.
Gray wasn't racing away from the cruiser, but he refused to pull over.
Gray lost control of the Honda and drove off Centerville Road, then tried to run away in a field.
Vance caught up with him after a brief chase.
District Judge Rodney Hartman arraigned Gray late Sunday night, and the suspect was remanded to prison early Monday morning.
