Three more municipal police departments have filed charges against a Warwick High School teacher for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with one of his students over a two-year period, according to court documents.

Police in Manheim and Lititz boroughs and Penn Township Monday charged Todd N. Sheerer, 3471 Coronet Ave., with corruption of minors for allegedly engaging in sex acts with the female student, now 17, from January 2006 until this month.

Sheerer, 29, was charged Friday by police in Warwick and Manheim townships with corruption of minors for allegedly engaging in sex acts with the girl inside his sport utility vehicle at various locations.

The charges filed Monday allege Sheerer and the girl, a member of the high school band, engaged in sex acts in his vehicle in Manheim and Penn townships and in the band room of Warwick High School in Lititz, according to arrest affidavits.

The girl has not been identified because she is a minor.

Since Jan. 21, a substitute teacher has been assigned to Sheerer's classes.

Warwick School District superintendent John George declined to comment on Sheerer's employment status or whether the district has begun an internal investigation into the allegations.

"All personnel have the right to due process. The Warwick School District is compelled to honor those rights," George said in a prepared statement. "Therefore, no additional comments will be made until the appropriate time."

Sheerer's attorney, Merrill Spahn, did not immediately return a telephone call from a reporter seeking comment.

According to an arrest affidavit filed Monday, the girl told Lititz police she and Sheerer would meet in the band room and backstage wardrobe changing area of the high school, where they would "kiss intimately" and Sheerer would fondle her breasts.

The affidavit also states that Sheerer instructed the girl "to wear certain clothing to school and asked her to 'flash' him by lifting up her skirt or shirt" inside the band room.

"These acts occurred numerous times throughout a two-year time period between January 2006 and January 2008," the affidavit states.

The Manheim Borough police arrest affidavit states that Sheerer and the girl engaged in sex acts in a vehicle "over two dozen times" in a parking lot at Stiegel and Oak streets.

Penn Township police allege Sheerer and the girl engaged in sex acts in parking lots at a discount store and a restaurant in the township, an affidavit states.

Sheerer also is accused of engaging in sexual activity with the girl in his SUV in Warwick Township while it was parked at a restaurant, a quarry, a hotel and an auto repair shop.

Police began their investigation Jan. 18, after an anonymous caller told Manheim Township police that a teacher and a student were "engaged in sexual acts" in a SUV in the parking lot of Friendly's Restaurant & Ice Cream, 1521 Oregon Pike, according to an arrest affidavit.

Manheim Township police Officer Michael Kuntz knocked on the window of the black Chevrolet Blazer, and Sheerer got out of the back seat, with his pants unzipped, the affidavit states. He told Kuntz the female in the back seat with him was 19, according to the affidavit.

Police expanded their investigation after the girl told them she and Sheerer had engaged in similar sex acts in other locations, the affidavits state.

Sheerer joined the Warwick faculty in 2003 and was credited with improving the school's marching band, which won a first-place trophy in the Cavalcade of Bands competitions in 2006 and 2007.

He also is director of the high school symphonic and jazz bands and the middle school concert and jazz bands. His wife is color-guard instructor for the high school band.

Sheerer is the second Warwick staff member in recent years to be charged in connection with alleged sexual contact with a Warwick student.

Former girls' basketball and softball coach Troy R. May was sentenced in 2005 to 8½ to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault and other charges stemming from his relationship with a 15-year-old basketball player in 2003.
