The man who robbed the Bank of Lancaster County office at 949 E. King St. last Wednesday afternoon wore a Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat and possibly a wig while he was in the bank, Lancaster police said.

Police have released a bank surveillance photo of the robber, who entered the Lancaster Township bank at 1:54 p.m. and handed a teller a demand note.

There are similarities between this photo and the surveillance photo of the man who robbed the Wachovia Bank, 1643 Lincoln Highway East at Bridgeport, on Saturday, Sept. 16. That robber also used a demand note.

The suspect in each robbery was a thin white male in his 20s who wore a dark, hooded sweatshirt.

The Bank of Lancaster County robber had long black hair that might have been a wig. He wore a black baseball cap with a light-colored logo on the front. The cap has been identified as  a Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat.

The bank robber also had a black tattoo that looked like a chain link across the middle of his upper chest.

The suspect fled from the East King Street bank with an undetermined amount of cash. He displayed no weapon, and there were no injuries. The same was true at the Wachovia Bank.

Anyone with information about the robber is  asked to call Lancaster City police at 735-3301 or contact Detective Nate Nickel at 735-3358.

• A young Manheim woman was severely beaten by her boyfriend  Monday night at the couple's West High Street home, Manheim police said.

Bruce McLaughlin, 42, assaulted Rebecca Boyer and then shoved the bloodied 20-year-old woman into a closet,  police said.

A neighbor heard the commotion and called police at about 11:30 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, officers found Boyer in the closet and McLaughlin still at the home at 332 W. High St.

An ambulance took Boyer to Lancaster General  Hospital where she was listed in fair condition this morning.

No weapons were used in the assault, which apparently stemmed from an argument. The woman was punched and possibly kicked, police  said.

Police arrested McLaughlin on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment brought by Officer Dave Carpenter.

McLaughlin was committed to Lancaster County Prison under $100,000 cash bail set by Magisterial Court Judge David Brian of Landisville.

• Another scuffle occurred early  Sunday morning at a Little Britain Township home, Lancaster state police said.

Stephanie Anne Sisler, 22, of Elkton, arrived at the home of Jonathan Buren Oliver, 23, of Pine Grove Road, Nottingham, at about 1:20 a.m., Trooper Adam R. Shutter said.

Sisler opened a bedroom window, but Oliver forced her out of the home. The woman then went to a living room window, opened it and climbed through the window into the home, Shutter said.

Sisler and Oliver got into a brief scuffle that ended when Sisler left the home. Oliver was not injured, but a lamp and mini-blinds were damaged from the incident, the trooper said.

There is no information about charges, but police are investigating the incident as a burglary and simple assault.

• A motorist who allegedly yelled obscenities at another motorist on Route 72, south of East Petersburg,  has been charged with harassment, East Hempfield Township police said.

Robert M. Lopez, 41, of 256 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, screamed at the other driver at about 6:15 p.m. Sept. 13 because he felt he was driving too fast in  the 5100 block of Main Street (Route 72), police said.

An investigation resulted in Lopez being charged with harassment, police reported Monday.
