Lancaster County detectives said they arrested a 29-year-old suspected drug dealer after they found PCP and two guns — including a sawed-off shotgun — in his city home.

Richard Maldonado, of 410 S. Prince St., was arrested and charged Wednesday after drug task force detectives said they found about $900 worth of PCP — or angel dust — prepared for sale in an upstairs bedroom of his home.

The shotgun and a pistol were found in the attic, detectives said.

Maldonado was charged with possession with intent to distribute PCP and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years incarceration and a fine of up to $100,000 if convicted, Lancaster County District Attorney Donald Totaro said.

Investigators are trying to determine who owns the guns, they said. Sawed-off shotguns are illegal, investigators said.

Detectives raided the home about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after they were tipped off that Maldonado was a PCP dealer.

Inside the home, PCP was found in liquid form and on mint leaves, investigators said.

The leaves had a street value of about $700 and were to be sold in small vials for $50 apiece.

The leaves were to be rolled into cigarettes and smoked, detectives said.

The liquid PCP had a street value of about $200, investigators said.

PCP is not common in Lancaster County, Totaro said. Maldonado allegedly was getting the supply from Philadelphia, Totaro said.

A drug task force detective said Thursday night that PCP has many of the same effects as LSD.

It can serve as a hallucinogen and, depending on a person's tolerance, can cause physical reactions such as seizures and can even induce a coma, the detective said.

Totaro said the investigation is ongoing and more charges against Maldonado are possible.

The suspect was at Lancaster County Prison Thursday in lieu of $5,000 bail.
