The cash reward reached $17,000 Monday for information leading to an arrest in connection with the unsolved triple-homicide case in Manheim Township.

Additional contributions from the Haines family and the community increased the reward, Manheim Township police said Monday.

Last week, the reward was initially posted at $10,000, before jumping to $12,00 by Thursday.

Lancaster City-County Crime Stoppers donated $1,000 to the fund, police said.

Meanwhile, local investigators remain tight-lipped about their probe of the triple homicide.

Police have made no arrests in relation to the stabbing deaths of Tom and Lisa Haines and their 16-year-old son, Kevin. The three victims were killed May 12 on the second floor of their Blossom Hill neighborhood home.

Police have not identified any suspects in the case.

Investigators still are processing evidence from 85 Peach Lane — the site of the brutal killings. After a final search around the property yielded no further clues Wednesday, the home was handed back to surviving family members.

Investigators have released no new information about the case in recent days, but a report published in People Magazine last week revealed a few more details.

The magazine reported that the killer left a bloody shoe print at the scene. The killer entered the Haines home through a garage door — which was often left open — and exited through the back door, the magazine reported.

Local investigators would not confirm any of the details reported in People.

Lancaster County District Attorney Don Totaro expressed displeasure with the article over the weekend.

"While I am not in any way confirming the accuracy of People Magazine, this article will certainly encourage the killer to get rid of the shoes they wore to the crime scene if they had not already done so," he said. "And if the story is accurate, a critical piece of evidence connecting the killer to the scene will now be destroyed."

The story quotes a doghandler who tracked a scent from the Haines home to a Freez & Frizz in Lititz — more than two miles north of the crime scene.

Totaro wouldn't confirm that report.
