A Parkesburg man died in a Saturday morning crash that happened on Route 30 in Sadsbury Township, Chester County.

John David Wise, 37, was driving east when, for an unknown reason, his car traveled off the road and into a field, said Embreeville state police Trooper Janssen Herb.

The car rolled over several times before coming to rest about 200 feet into the field, the trooper said.

Wise was pronounced dead at the scene. Any witnesses to the crash, which happened about four miles east of the Lancaster-Chester County line, are asked to contact Embreeville state police at (484) 340-3241.

A bicyclist and a motorcyclist were injured in weekend crashes that happened on opposite ends of Lancaster County.

A juvenile who was riding a bicycle suffered a serious head injury when the bike collided with a truck Saturday evening at the Pumping Station Road/Dry Wells intersection, east of Quarryville.

The bicyclist, whose identity is not being released by police, was heading east on Dry Wells Road shortly before 7 p.m. and failed to stop at a posted stop sign, Lancaster state Trooper Anthony L. Holloway said.

Michael James Speicher, Kirkwood, was driving the truck, which had a utility trailer. He was not hurt, police said.

Brandon Smith, 32, of Morgantown, had minor injuries from a motorcycle crash that occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Friday on Pleasant Valley Road in Brecknock Township, Ephrata state police said.

Smith lost control on a curve, Trooper James Algeo said. The cyclist fled on foot, but left his motorcycle at the scene, the trooper said. When police located Smith the next day, he said he "was in a daze and walked to a friend's house," Algeo said.

Smith is being cited for traffic violations related to the crash, along with failure to notify police and operating a motorcycle on a learner's permit after sunset, the trooper said.

In other weekend crashes:
  • A car driven by Wanda L. Yoder, Parkesburg, traveled off New Holland Road in Leacock Township late Saturday afternoon and struck a fence and a small tree, Lancaster state police Trooper Kevin S. Edmunds said.
Yoder became ill and lost consciousness as she approached Redwell Drive, east of Intercourse, at about 4:45 p.m., police said. She was wearing a seat belt and had a minor injury from the crash.
  • Several people were hurt when vehicles driven by Wanda Marie Port, 74, of Pottstown, and Frank C. Chesters, 57, of 30 Bentley Lane, collided late Saturday morning at the Peters Road/Zeltenreich Road intersection in Earl Township, New Holland police said.
Port was driving west on Zeltenreich Road and failed to stop for a posted stop sign, police said. Both drivers and at least one passenger were taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of injuries following the 11:26 p.m. crash, police said.
  • Donald Rathkey, 65, Lancaster, had minor injuries from a Friday morning crash on Old Holtwood Road in Martic Township, Lancaster state police aid.
Rathkey was driving west shortly after 5 a.m. when a deer ran onto the road, Trooper Donn Reid said. When Rathkey swerved to avoid hitting the deer, his Ford F-250 truck left the road and traveled about 100 feet down a hill into an embankment, the trooper said.
