Looking for room to grow, Yurchak Printing Inc. intends to move to a new, larger $2.2 million facility this fall.
The new building at 460 Running Pump Road would be 35,000 square feet, compared to its current 24,000-square-foot space at 2959 Old Tree Drive, about a half-mile away.
"This will give us an opportunity to continue growing the company for the next 10 years," said founder and chief executive officer John Yurchak Jr.
Besides providing more space, the new building will lead to more efficient production and administration and eliminate the need to rent 6,000 square feet of warehouse space off site, Yurchak said today.
At the same time, the new location is so close to the current one that "we're not displacing any of our employees" as a result of the move, he said.
Yurchak Printing, a short-run digital printer of books for the legal and professional markets, has 60 workers, compared to five when it began operations in 1998.
The firm expects to enlarge its payroll in its new building, to be developed on a site of nearly three acres, Yurchak said.
The project, subject to East Hempfield Township approval, has been approved for a $678,000 loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority, said PIDA Wednesday. Helping Yurchak Printing obtain the funding was EDC Finance Corp.
Yurchak, joined in the company by his sons, president John W. and team leader Jason, operated Wickersham Printing in the same Old Tree Drive building for 20 years until selling it in 1996.
Two years later, after the buyer closed the doors, Yurchak bought some of the assets and started Yurchak Printing, growing the business to its current revenues of $8 million a year.
